The Urbametrics project, promoted by the Mobility, Transport and Territory Studies Group (GEMOTT) of the UAB, has been highlighted in a recent report by VIA Empresa on knowledge transfer initiatives in the field of social sciences and humanities. You can read the full news here .
The article presents Urbametrics as an example of how research in geography, mobility and territory can generate useful tools for urban planning and decision-making. Specifically, the project develops complex urban indicators based on the integration of large volumes of data to analyze aspects such as walkability , cycleability , urban vitality , access to green spaces or the fifteen-minute city .
Developed within GEMOTT under the leadership of Carme Miralles-Guasch and Oriol Marquet , Urbametrics has evolved from a more academic initial phase to become a focus for the group’s own transfer. This trajectory has been reinforced by obtaining several competitive grants and by promoting specialized consulting services based on the expertise accumulated by the group in more than three decades of research.
The presence of Urbametrics in this report and in spaces such as the II Conference on Knowledge Transfer in Social Sciences and Humanities at PRUAB contributes to making visible the transformative potential of the social sciences and the role they can play in generating impact outside of academia.
