Last week, the project “Air and Noise Pollution Mitigation Through Integrated, Society-Centred Actions” ( ATMOPOLIS ) was launched, a new European project that addresses air and noise pollution from an innovative perspective, integrating environmental and social sciences to better understand how it affects health and quality of life in European cities. The project aims to advance towards mitigation solutions that are society-centred, socially acceptable and adapted to local contexts, integrating health, climate and urban planning.
Oriol Marquet and Monika Maciejewska participated from GEMOTT, contributing their expertise in the analysis of citizen perception, in qualitative methodologies such as photovoice and in the collection of stories and everyday experiences of exposure to pollution.
The project brings together fourteen partners from eight states and the research will be carried out in the cities of London, Łódź, Tampere, Sarajevo and Podgorica, in collaboration with universities, public administrations, research institutions and social entities from across Europe. A project that reinforces GEMOTT’s commitment to interdisciplinary, applied and social impact-oriented urban research.
