Next Wednesday, May 8, the final presentation event of the TRANSEQUI research project will take place.
The main objective of the TRANSEQUI project is to explore the implications of traffic calming actions on intra-urban equity, taking the Eixample of Barcelona as a case study. More specifically, the project poses the following research questions:
- What are the main internal inequities that can be generated by pacification actions on certain streets?
- How do these intra-urban inequities resulting from pacification actions affect different population groups, depending on the type of street where they reside?
This event aims to combine a more local perspective with a more technical one. At the level of social impact, the identification of possible inequities resulting from the implementation of traffic calming measures can contribute to the design of public policies that reduce these inequalities. In this way, it is hoped that the results of the project will contribute to guiding the upcoming implementation of the Barcelona Superblock program, as well as informing other traffic calming initiatives.
