Next Monday, March 4 at 6pm, we invite you to the conference given by researcher Irene Gómez Varo. It will take place in the Puig i Cadafalch Room of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, at c. del Carme 47, Barcelona.
For many people, cities are the settings of our daily lives, and we have the challenge of planning and managing them so that they are, beyond a place to live, a livable space.
This research arises from this reflection and takes as its central idea the concept of urban vitality, coined by urban thinker Jane Jacobs (1961), which refers to the capacity of neighborhood environments to bring together different people and activities in urban space. Different case studies try to explore this idea of vitality in the current context of Barcelona and its metropolis from a spatial perspective.
